As a destination wedding photographer, Ireland has been on “the list” for a while. Telling my couples’ stories and documenting their love in places all over the world is one of my very favorite parts of this beautiful job. I will happily pack my bags for anywhere in Europe that comes calling, but Ireland will now always hold an extra special place after our visit.
If you’ve ever been to Ireland, you’ll likely remember the feeling the first time you saw its beautiful rolling hills on the coast. They’re gorgeous, otherworldly, a little eerie, and undoubtedly full of magic! An immediate sense of awe and wonder sticks with you long after you return home. For us, it was no different.
Killarney
The gap of Dunloe in Killarney was magical, as was our stay at Aghadoe Heights Hotel in Killarney National Park. When we arrived, it was a foggy and cloudy fall day with tons of wind coming through the mountains. The energy in there was really something. It’s a wild ride through the pass with one-lane roads overlooking lakes. Renting a car for our three-day trip was the best decision!
While our first day was mostly fog, the next day was the opposite, so bright and sunny; the perfect September day. The cliffs were so majestic and stunning, and I’m convinced Slea Head Drive was the most beautiful ride I have ever been on in my life. We even set up a camera at one stop to document being together near the coast!
Toward the end of our stay, we squeezed in a visit to Dublin and were just as blown away. It was full of life and music, and we met some of the nicest people! We stopped into one of the sweetest coffee shops – a must-visit if you find yourself in the area. This gem was located within The Clarence Hotel. A perfect stay in the heart of it all.
